Centre for Green Technology

The Centre for Green Technology (CGT) at Peterborough College is a £13.5 million state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing education and skills in sustainable technologies.

Opening its doors to students in September 2025, the CGT encompasses approximately 2,664 square metres of space, featuring specialized workshops for electrical engineering, plumbing and motor vehicles, as well as classrooms, offices and collaborative breakout areas.

The curriculum has been developed in collaboration with local employers to ensure alignment with industry needs, focusing on modern construction methods, alternative heat sources and electric vehicle technology. This approach aims to equip students with the skills required for careers in high-growth sustainable industries.

Reflecting its commitment to sustainability, the CGT has been designed as a net-zero build with its total energy demand met through on-site renewable energy sources, thereby minimising its environmental footprint.

The £13.5 million project is funded through a combination of sources, including £2.471 million from the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority via the Transforming Cities Fund, £400,000 from the Local Growth Fund and a £1.9 million contribution from Peterborough City Council through the Towns Fund.

We support employers to develop their people and their organisations. We strive to make a positive contribution to the prosperity and wellbeing of our diverse communities.
