Last week, Peterborough Citizens held their Founding Assembly as the newest chapter of Citizens UK at Peterborough College, part of the Inspire Education Group.

Peterborough Citizens, a people-power alliance of diverse local communities working together for the common good, looks to develop local leaders, strengthen local organisations and make positive changes.

Upon arrival at the event, guests were welcomed by Peterborough College students, catering students laid on an assortment of canapes and refreshments, and our music and performing arts students provided entertainment throughout the evening.

Our Journalism students, studying degree courses through University Centre Peterborough, also attended the event, interviewing members about their hopes and aspirations for the future of our city.

Hosted by Rachel Nicholls, CEO of Inspire Education Group and Chair of Peterborough Citizens, said, “Tonight we launched our Founding Assembly as the newest chapter of Citizens UK, Peterborough Citizens. Peterborough Citizens has 19 member institutions, and as one of the founding members and strategic partners, we are so pleased to host the event at Peterborough College. With over 430 people attending, it was truly a fantastic evening as we all heard about the brilliant work undertaken by our campaign teams over the last 18 months. Peterborough Citizens proves what can be done, when civic organisations work together for the common good, a true illustration of people power. This is just the start for Peterborough Citizens, and we look forward to starting our new Listening Campaign and finding out about the big issues that impact Peterborough residents and then working together to bring about positive change.”
