IEG Host AoC Regional Equity Exchange, Showcasing Commitment to Inclusion

Inspire Education Group (IEG) proudly hosted the AoC Regional Equity Exchange last week, bringing together further education (FE) practitioners from across the East region. The event focused on sharing best practices and innovative approaches to promoting equity within the educational sector.

The AoC Regional Equity Exchange provided a collaborative platform for FE professionals to reflect on their experiences, share successes, and inspire each other to foster inclusive learning environments. By creating a psychologically safe space, the event encouraged participants to challenge ideas, support one another, and drive collective innovation.

Key Highlights of the Event Included:

College of Sanctuary Initiative

Laila Bentley, Assistant Principal for Student Experience and Support, shared how IEG has successfully embedded College of Sanctuary status into the Group's practices to support asylum seekers and refugee learners, providing them with a safe and welcoming educational environment.

Rainbow Flag Award Achievement

Julie Addison, Assistant Principal for Student Experience and Support, discussed the group's efforts in achieving The Kite Trust’s Rainbow Flag award. She highlighted the inclusive practices embedded across IEG that celebrate diversity and support LGBTQ+ students and staff.

Understanding Staff Experiences

Shahzad Ahmed, HR Officer - Corporate Rewards and Initiatives, introduced the ‘A Day in the Life’ initiative, designed to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of staff across IEG campuses. This initiative aims to enhance the workplace environment and promote staff well-being.

‘It’s Not Banter’ Campaign

The campaign, spearheaded by Sam and IEG’s EDI Coordinator, Charlotte Akester, addresses the issue of discrimination disguised as ‘just a bit of banter’. It focuses on educating students about the importance of respect, understanding differences, and fostering mutual tolerance among individuals from all backgrounds and identities.

The event was marked by engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and a spirit of camaraderie among FE colleagues. Attendees left with renewed inspiration and practical ideas to implement within their own institutions.

Inspire Education Group is committed to providing high-quality education and support to all students, fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment. Through innovative initiatives and a dedication to equity, IEG strives to ensure that every student and staff member feels valued and heard.
