IEG Join Race Equality Matters to Strengthen Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion

Inspire Education Group (IEG) is proud to announce its membership with Race Equality Matters, reinforcing its dedication to creating an inclusive, equitable environment where everyone can thrive. This partnership is a key step in advancing IEG’s strategic priority to champion equality, diversity and inclusion, with a particular focus on implementing robust anti-racist practices and championing a culture of fairness and respect.

As part of this commitment, IEG will actively participate in Race Equality Week 2025, embracing the Five-Day Challenge to address critical themes around race equality:

  1. Day 1: Intersectionality – Exploring how overlapping identities shape individual experiences.
  2. Day 2: Recognising Privilege – Understanding privilege as a tool for driving equity.
  3. Day 3: Inclusive Language – Building respect through words that empower.
  4. Day 4: Code-Switching – Encouraging authenticity in the workplace.
  5. Day 5: The Big Promise – Taking visible, accountable actions to create real change.

This announcement follows IEG's recent launch of the 'It's Not Banter' toolkit alongside Peterborough Citizens, which tackles the prevalence of prejudiced comments disguised as "banter," which creates a disempowering environment for students, staff and parents. As part of the campaign IEG looked to provide resources to schools and education institutions to support having difficult conversations, integrate inclusion to PSHE and lessons alongside so much more.

Charlotte Akester launched the 'It's Not Banter' campaign with Peterborough Citizens in 2024.

Charlotte Akester, EDI Coordinator at IEG, commented:

"Joining Race Equality Matters reflects our commitment to championing equality, diversity, and inclusion. By engaging in Race Equality Week and implementing the Five-Day Challenge, we aim to further embed anti-racist practices and create a truly inclusive environment for our staff and students. At IEG, we believe that our strength lies in our differences, and through collaboration and education, we can continue to drive positive change."
