Peterborough City Council Visit IEG to See Centre for Green Technology Progress and Future Plans

Inspire Education Group (IEG) had the honour of hosting members of Peterborough City Council, who visited Peterborough College to see the progress of the new Centre for Green Technology (CGT) and hear about the exciting direction in which IEG is moving forward.

The visit included a personalised tour of the CGT site, led by Roger Bancroft, Senior Project Manager at Clegg Construction. The state-of-the-art facility will be a hub for delivering green skills training, aligning with local and national sustainability priorities. The councillors were impressed with how this project exemplifies IEG’s commitment to innovation and supporting the green economy.

The project has been partly funded by Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), providing £2.471 million via the Transforming Cities Fund and £400,000 from the Local Growth Fund, further to the £1.9 million package from Peterborough City Council via the Towns Fund.

In a meeting with IEG's Executive Team, councillors were updated with key progress points across Peterborough College, Stamford College and University Centre Peterborough. The discussion highlighted IEG’s outstanding achievements, including strong Ofsted results, the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) recognition at University Centre Peterborough and the positive impact of our learner outcomes.

The visit also served as an opportunity to share IEG’s recently launched Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Exceptional Strategy, which outlines the group’s forward-looking vision to deliver educational excellence and innovation. This includes plans for further campus redevelopment to create exceptional learning environments that inspire success across all our sites.

For newly elected councillors and those unfamiliar with IEG’s transformation since the merger, the visit provided a deeper understanding of how the organisation has evolved from Peterborough Regional College into a dynamic educational group that serves the needs of learners, employers, and the wider community.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Peterborough City Council as we work to deliver exceptional education and training opportunities for the region.
