Important Information regarding GCSE Resits w/c 6th November

Due to the unprecedented number of students resitting their GCSE English and maths exams in the November series, we have been required to change how we are delivering lessons from Monday 6th November to Monday 13th November to accommodate. Therefore, all students will experience some changes to their timetable next week, however I would like to reassure you we have worked hard to minimise any disruption to their learning.  Below is some important information about arrangements in place for next week.

Timetable changes

All students have been informed of the changes to their timetable and a revised timetable for next week has been shared by their tutor on Google classroom. This may include a mix of online lessons, some face to face workshops and course work set to complete remotely. We ask that all students check their Google classroom so they are aware of the changes for next week. If they are unsure please ask them to contact their tutor direct.

Free College Meals (FCM)

Any student that receives free college meals will be sent a link to their college email to access supermarket vouchers which can be used in a range of stores, this will ensure that the days they are timetabled to work from home they are able to purchase food.  We ask that all students look out for a text message and an email with details of how to access their vouchers.  Whilst in college, FCM will be available as normal.

Access to IT

The college has arrangements in place for students that do not have access to a PC or laptop whilst working from home.  Any student that will be affected by this are advised to contact their tutor in the first instance so that the necessary arrangements can be put in place.

I would like to remind parents of the free Chromebook initiative available for students that are eligible for free college meals that may need an electronic device to complete their studies.  Students that are eligible are asked to visit the College Library with their ID badge and confirmation that they are eligible for free college meals for 2023/24 and they will be loaned a device until the end of the academic year.

College services

Home to College transport will be operating everyday as normal and our free breakfast offer will continue to be available for all students and staff.

From Tuesday 14th November all timetables will resume to normal.

Finally, I would like to wish all of our students that are resitting their exams good luck for next week.  Should you have any further queries about arrangements, please contact their course tutor in the first instance.

Kind Regards
